Sunless sea is interesting, but i can't put in in a Sid meier's like type. Try to test it again few months ago, unfortunetly can't go beyond 5 hours of game. If none of those games satisfy you, then I don't know what else and you'll probably have to lower your expectations, since we'll likely never see an AAA-SP-pirate game. Other titles I personally disliked, but may still be liked by others or might be worth looking into if you are desperate: Pillars of Eternity II: Deadfire (Not joking: if you ignore the Fantasy-world and turn-based ship-combat, then you can get a decent "pirate"-game with different ships, gear and crew management) Buccaneers! (Not released yet, but development is going strong and a demo will be available on the 3rd of February until the 9th) Salt (I did consider this to be the better SoT once)
